Classic reading on your mobile phone - just listen to your memory card

Gabbiano_3 Have you ever thought that your mobile phone could be a nice companion for good, old-fashioned classic books reading? This is what Italians could get now on standard memory cards for mobile phones with "Playlibro" (literally a "playbook"): this is a truly mobile audio book engineered by Neos and offered on the initiative of publishing and media leader RCS group companies RCS Libri and RCS Broadcast through the FM station Play Radio. The first mobile audio book is being launched now at the "Salone del Libro", the giant-size book fair and book lovers gathering held annually in Torino. The first issue is for a real, ever best-selling classic, Jonathan Livingston Seagull (in Italian: "Il gabbiano Jonathan Livingston") by Richard Bach. The audio text is available on a 128 megabyte RS-MMC (reduced size MultiMedia Card); the package includes also an adaptor for the MMS format and will be on sale at bookshops, computer and mobile phone shops. The news is also on dispaly on the main Italian daily "Corriere della Sera" portal (for Italian readers only ;)

NEM assembly in Brussels, moving towards FP7 (and an emerging Italian perspective)

Thumb_the_brussels_grand_place_on_a_satu_1Neos attended the NEM-Networked Electronic Media general assembly in Brussels. The meeting (see all the presentations online) has been an important occasion for pubic discussion around the current SRA-Strategic Research Agenda (now in version 3.0) and progress towards the next.

The rework of the agenda will be also functional to identify the most promising research topics for the forthcoming FP7, whose first call is expected to be announced before the year end. So this is more and more time to act. Over the next weeks and months Neos will actively get in touch with other organizations interested in the field. From this point of view we are glad to report a more active than usual presence of Italian players. Some of us discussed informally about the opportunity to set up an Italian NEM mirror group - hope to be back on this soon...

IAB Italia web site links a presentation from Nielsen NetRatings on the "broadband effect"; very interesting takes about how broadband transforms people usage of the Internet and affects advertisers and publishers businesses.
